Matcha is a type of tea derived from young green tea leaves that are finely ground into a bright green powder. It is prepared by whisking the powder into hot water which is different than a regular green tea that is typically steeped using a tea bag that is then removed.
Matcha is mainly consumed for its extremely high antioxidant levels and energy boosting properties. Matcha has been estimated to have 137 times more antioxidants than regular green tea. Other benefits of matcha can include boosting brain activity and protection from liver damage.
